Sheet weight table
Steel sheet weight table by thickness and size
Weight per m² and per sheet for hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized sheet from 0.3 to 50 mm, for 1×2, 1.25×2.5, 1.5×3 and 1.5×6 m sheets — request a price for any gauge in one click.
Thin sheet weights — cold-rolled & galvanized (0.3 – 1.8 mm)
Common gauges for cold-rolled, galvanized and pre-painted sheet. For galvanized sheet add the zinc coating (about 0.28 kg/m² for Z275).

Hot-rolled sheet & plate weights (2 – 50 mm)
Hot-rolled (black) sheet and plate for structural and fabrication work. 1500 × 6000 is the most requested size in heavier gauges.

Theoretical weights at a steel density of 7850 kg/m³ (kg/m² = thickness in mm × 7.85). Actual weight may vary within the thickness tolerances of the standard.
Frequently asked questions
What does a 1.5 × 6 m sheet, 6 mm thick, weigh?
6 mm sheet weighs 6 × 7.85 = 47.1 kg/m². The sheet is 9 m², so it weighs about 423.9 kg.
How do I quickly calculate sheet weight?
Multiply thickness in mm by 7.85 to get kg per m², then multiply by the sheet area in m². Example: 2 mm = 15.7 kg/m², so a 1.25 × 2.5 m sheet (3.125 m²) is about 49 kg.
Is galvanized sheet heavier than black sheet?
Slightly — add the zinc coating. Z275, for example, adds about 0.28 kg per m² (both sides).
What is the difference between hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet?
Hot-rolled (black) sheet has a dark surface and is used in heavier gauges for structural work; cold-rolled is rolled again at room temperature, so it is smoother, more accurate and thinner.
